and the Irish Wolfhound Club of America
Wolfhounds have been a part of our lives since the mid 80's when we acquired our first. It was love at
first site with the gangly twelve week old puppy girl that greeted us at Bilbernie Kennels in Burlington,
Ontario, Canada.
Since then it has been a learning curve. We thought we might show, and then eventually, perhaps breed.
How hard could it be, right? Wrong.
In the past years, through the help of mentors, with determination, countless hours of reading, writing,
grooming, training, showing and travelling, we still have much to learn. As a caretaker of this breed, it
has become a never-ending love story.
Castlekeep is located in Hagersville, Ontario, Canada. Approximately 1/2 an hour south of Hamilton.
We welcome guest by appointment only.
Our hounds are from European and North American lines. We breed for health, longevity and temperament
while following conformation standards.
Castlekeep works with other reputable breeders to breed the very best wolfhounds we can. They
are successful in the conformation ring, and in field, as well as sweet family members.
Puppies are available occasionally, with life long hound support.
Because of their size, the Irish Wolfhound is not for everyone. They are a hunting hound, so
they do LOVE to chase. A fenced exercise area is a must. They are giants, so their dietary needs must
be considered different then even a large breed dog.
Castlekeep hounds are fed a biologically appropriate raw diet suitable for a canines. It is our belief
that this builds a healthier hound.
